Thinking of You

Good evening fellow bloggers. Finally I was able to get a card finished. I have several in various stages, and it seems that when time is available, I'm not in the mood...or if I'm in the mood, then something else gets in the way until my motivation has subsided. Does that happen to you? Anyway,
here's my card for this evening.

Some quick specs on the card:

Lace Stamp from Just Rite; stamped versamark on white c/s, heat embossed with  Hero Arts white emboss (which looks very creamy...the look I was trying for). Then I used Memento Desert Sand to sponge over it, giving an even more creamy, vintage look.

Inkadinkadoo stamp. Stamped the focal image, then stamped 2 more times to get the buds & blooms. I used some decoupage type glue behind a couple of the blossoms after I had shaped them, to maintain a bit of roundness. I tried to color the blossoms with more contrast than my usual style (remember I  just had a Copic class where this was stressed! So trying to practice what I learned <g>)

Elizabeth Craft Diecut sentiment on (aha!) a snippet (and now that I think of it, my extra blossoms were snippets too! Yay!) This means I can go play at Pixie's Playground....and folks, let me share with you, there are some awesome cards and projects showing over there. Do please come along & take a looksee.

The lace trim is some very old lace (who knows how old!), that my SIL recently passed along. She is a sewer of long years, who doesn't do much of it any longer, and is cleaning out a lifetime of 'stuff'. I was most grateful to get a couple of bags of things. The ribbon is pink grosgrain from the stash. Thought about coloring to match the roses, decided, Nah, leave it alone.

Then I noticed at the top left corner, I had not gotten the embossing as tidy as it should have been, so how to fix it. I didn't want to cut down the lace motif, so I found some roses in the stash, and used Glossy Accents to fasten down. Hope you will enjoy this and I hope the recipient will like it as well, and know that she's in my thoughts.

OK...changing subjects: A few posts back, I told you about some very intricate dies I had purchased - manufactured by Die-Versions, but bought at a stamp convention. Beautiful dies, but a PITA to try to diecut & release. I wrote to the company, we commented back & forth. I let them know I was most unhappy with these dies, because they were NOT cheap! Thankfully for me, I was asked to return the troublesome dies for replacement. I wasn't real sure I wanted any more of these whisper dies. I'm happy to report, the company sent me 2 more, but THESE 2 dies have the 'pokey' holes so that you can get a little pointer in and push the cardstock out a bit. I've tried both of the replacements, and feel that my problem was resolved most satisfactorily, with a happy ending. I LOVE happy endings, don't you?

That's it for me tonight. Got a couple more cards to try to work on...images are done, just have to decide how to turn into cards. Have a lovely evening, and as always, thanks for stopping in to visit with me. Hugs.

  4. Oh Mary...this is very pretty...delicate and pretty!
I can see the shading is so beautifully done...you must feel proud of those roses.
Thank goodness they sorted out the dies...it is frustrating to pay good money for things that are disappointing...and great news to hear of companies that stand behind the meaning of customer service!

Been in the garden all afternoon...phew...we are tired.
I have divided and potted up over 200 perennials! I still have maybe 70 or 80 to go! I am putting them on Craigslist and whatever is left over can go up to the lake...the garden club there is always looking for donations for the flower borders. Right now I think the pots would completely fill the bed of the pickup! teehee
